Nigerian Military Foils Drone-Assisted Terror Attack

The Nigerian military, under the direction of Maj Gen Michael Onoja, reported significant success in counter-terrorism operations in North-east Nigeria from March 13 to March 19. Troops neutralized a major terrorist assault in Mallam Fatori, Borno State, killing numerous fighters, including senior commanders.

The operation led to the recovery of 74 bodies of terrorists and a cache of arms, including 38 AK-47 rifles and three PKT machine guns. The military also thwarted multiple infiltration attempts across Bama, Gujba, and Kaga local government areas.

Additionally, troops arrested logistics suppliers and intercepted a suspect gunrunner in Taraba, recovering ammunition and cash. The operations extended beyond the North-east, with significant breakthroughs in Zamfara, Katsina, and Kaduna states, where troops rescued kidnap victims and disrupted criminal networks.

The military's commitment to restoring stability in the region was emphasized, alongside ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal oil bunkering and drug trafficking operations.
