Nigerian Troops Kill 45 Bandits, Lose Captain in Katsina

In a military operation in Katsina State, Nigerian troops successfully neutralized 45 bandits during a fierce encounter, but the operation resulted in the loss of Captain Paul Hassan and two soldiers. The clash occurred in the Danmusa Local Government Area and was initiated by bandits from Zamfara State who attacked Alhazawa Village on March 5 to steal cattle.

Local community members, described as repentant bandits, fought back, killing four bandits and recovering the stolen cattle. In retaliation, the bandits returned in large numbers on March 6, prompting a military response led by troops from the Nigerian Army's forward operating base.

The operation, based on credible intelligence, also led to the elimination of Adamu Alieru, a notorious bandit leader. Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, the Governor of Katsina State, commended the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers and extended condolences to the families of the deceased military personnel.
