Police Officer, Three Bandits Killed in Katsina Clash

On February 13, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a gun battle occurred in Rimi Local Government Area, Katsina State, resulting in the deaths of a police officer and three armed bandits. The incident began when heavily armed bandits invaded Magaj Village, shooting sporadically and rustling livestock.

Upon receiving a distress call, CSP Muhammad Sani Kabir, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rimi, mobilized officers and collaborated with neighboring police divisions and military personnel to secure the area and track the fleeing suspects. During the ensuing gun duel, three bandits were neutralized, and stolen livestock was recovered.

Unfortunately, CSP Kabir sustained fatal injuries during the exchange. The Katsina State Police Command, led by CP Bello Shehu, expressed condolences and commended the bravery of the joint security team.

Separately, the Department of State Services (DSS) successfully rescued a five-year-old boy kidnapped in Danzaki Village, with a ransom demand of N15 million, leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect, Aminu Mukhtar.
