Emir of Potiskum Advocates Inclusive Approach to Insecurity

The Emir of Potiskum, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, stated that military operations alone cannot resolve Nigeria's security challenges. He urged leaders to adopt a more inclusive approach that addresses poverty, injustice, and other socio-economic factors contributing to conflicts.

The Emir described Nigeria's diversity as a strength, asserting that every citizen deserves a sense of belonging to inspire cooperation for national development. He emphasized that national leaders should act as parental figures, prioritizing the welfare of citizens over personal interests.

Additionally, he highlighted the role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and preventing communal conflicts, advocating for traditional rulers to facilitate dialogue and community development. The Emir called on both political and traditional leaders to govern with justice, accountability, and sincerity, noting that history will judge leaders by their positive impact on the people rather than their positions.
