Foundational NAL President Professor Ayo Bamgbose Dies

Professor Ayo Bamgbose, the foundational President of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL), has died at the age of 94 in the early hours of Saturday. He was a prominent African linguist and had a long academic career at the University of Ibadan, where he lectured for many years.

Additionally, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ibadan from 1971 to 1973. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, confirmed Bamgbose's death and expressed condolences on behalf of the University of Ibadan Community to the family, friends, and the intellectual community he left behind.
