Military Pension Board Issues Fraud Alert to Pensioners

The Military Pension Board (MPB) has raised a fraud alert, cautioning military pensioners and their next of kin (NOK) against disclosing sensitive personal financial information to fraudsters. Squadron Leader Aliyu Moham, from the MPB's public relations office, stated that unscrupulous individuals are contacting pensioners under various pretexts, including promises to facilitate loan processes and financial services.

The board has received reports of individuals demanding sensitive information such as bank verification numbers (BVN), national identification numbers (NIN), bank account details, and ATM card information. The MPB strongly advises pensioners and their NOK not to disclose any personal information to unauthorized individuals or groups.

It emphasizes that the board does not engage third parties to collect pension-related information for loan processing or any other purposes. Pensioners are encouraged to conduct official business through recognized MPB channels and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
