Military Defeats Boko Haram Attack in Borno Community

The Nigerian military successfully repelled an invasion by Boko Haram and ISWAP on a community in Borno State during a midnight attack on a military base. The incident occurred last Sunday, with no casualties reported at the time of the press release.

Senator Moham Ali Ndume, representing the APC in Borno South and a former chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, praised the troops for their timely reinforcement in Kirawa, Ngosh, and Gwoza town, which helped save lives and property. Ndume acknowledged that the insurgents withdrew due to the overwhelming firepower of the troops.

In a separate incident, Boko Haram terrorists killed seven fishermen and abducted others, demanding a ransom of N20 million. The abduction took place on February 12, 2026, during an attack at the Kwatan Dadin Kowa fish market in Doron Baga, Kukawa LGA.

One of the victims, Abakar Gambo, was murdered, and the terrorists warned of further consequences if the ransom was not paid promptly.
