Military Court Martial Established Over Coup Allegations

The Defence Headquarters of Nigeria has convened a general court martial to address allegations of a coup plot against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu involving several military personnel. This court martial, ordered on April 17, 2026, will take place at the Scorpion Officers' Mess in Asokoro, Abuja, starting on April 23, 2026.

The court is established under the Armed Forces Act Cap A20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and will comprise senior officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, reflecting a tri-service judicial structure. The court will be chaired by Air Vice Marshal H.

Alhaji, with Major General and Rear Admiral members, and will include Lt. Col.

Moham as the judge advocate to provide legal oversight. The proceedings are part of ongoing investigations into attempts to undermine the Nigerian state, and the court martial is expected to handle multiple cases involving personnel accused of connections to the alleged coup plot.
