Nigerian Military Uncovers Suicide Bombing Ring, Names Ringleader in Northeast

The Nigerian military has identified Shariff Umar Yusuf as the ringleader of a suicide bombing network responsible for recent attacks in the northeast, such as the December 24, 2025, bombing at Gamboru Market and a mosque in Maiduguri. During a cordon and search operation in Maiduguri's Kalmari area, 14 suspects were arrested, with Ibrahim Muhammad providing intelligence implicating Umar in coordinating the terror cell.

Further investigations uncovered links within Umar's family, including his wife Yagana Modu and stepdaughter Amina. The suspects remain in custody for intensive multi-layer investigations to dismantle the network.
