Military Warns of Boko Haram Threats During Eid Celebrations

The Nigerian military has warned residents in the North East to remain alert during the Eid el-Kabir celebrations due to possible attacks from Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters. The warning was issued on Monday, with intelligence reports suggesting that terrorist elements may attempt to exploit the festive period to target crowds in public places using suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices.

Lt. Col. Sani Uba stated that troops have already taken proactive steps to prevent security breaches, deploying personnel to vulnerable areas and intensifying surveillance operations. The military is collaborating with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local vigilante groups to ensure a peaceful celebration.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary movements, particularly at night, and to report any suspicious individuals or activities. The military reassured the public that they are fully prepared to respond to any threats during the celebrations.
