Military Warns of Possible Terror Attacks During Eid-el-Kabir

The military, through Lt. Col.

Sani Uba, spokesman for the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, has warned of possible terror attacks in North-East Nigeria during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. This warning was issued on Monday in Maiduguri, based on credible intelligence indicating that remnants of Boko Haram terrorists and elements of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) may exploit the festive period to carry out attacks against civilian targets.

The military specifically highlighted the risk of suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices, particularly in areas with high population concentrations. Residents are advised to conduct Eid prayers at home with family and to avoid large open gatherings.

The military has urged the public to exercise heightened vigilance in crowded places such as markets, motor parks, banks, and prayer grounds. Additionally, the command has encouraged residents to report any suspicious individuals, unattended objects, or unusual movements to the nearest military checkpoint, police station, or civil-military liaison point, and to cooperate fully with security personnel during patrols.
