Military Ensures Safe Eid el-Kabir Celebrations in North East

The Joint Task Force North East, under Operation Hadin Kai, has issued a statement assuring residents of North East Nigeria of comprehensive security measures in place for the Eid el-Kabir celebrations scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2026. Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military's media information officer, confirmed that security operations are actively ongoing to ensure peaceful celebrations despite credible intelligence suggesting that remnants of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province may attempt to exploit the festive period to launch isolated attacks on civilian targets.

The military has deployed troops to critical vulnerable locations and intensified patrols in coordination with sister agencies and community vigilante groups. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, avoid large gatherings, and report any suspicious activities.

The military emphasized its readiness to counter any threats and maintain a peaceful atmosphere during the celebrations.
