Minister Honors NSCDC Mining Chief for Leadership in Sector

On Friday in Abuja, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, the Minister of Women Affairs, praised Onoja Attah, the Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals, for his leadership in the fight against illegal mining in Nigeria. Suleiman-Ibrahim presented the Transformational Leadership Award to Attah on behalf of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists during the inaugural Women in Security Summit and Awards 2026.

She highlighted the significant role of the Mining Marshals in protecting Nigeria’s mineral resources and restoring order to the solid minerals sector. Suleiman-Ibrahim recalled Attah’s inauguration as the pioneer commander and expressed satisfaction with his performance.

Attah dedicated the award to NSCDC Commandant-General Ahmed Audi and announced plans to integrate female personnel into the Mining Marshals to enhance operational effectiveness and promote gender inclusion. The event was attended by first ladies from Borno, Yobe, and Bauchi states, along with various security chiefs and government officials.
