Minister Idris Links Anti-Corruption to Economic Stability

At the 4th Economic Confidential Lecture and 6th National Spokespersons Awards in Abuja, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, articulated the connection between anti-corruption reforms and economic stability. Represented by Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Idris stated that corruption undermines institutions and public confidence, making economic stability challenging.

He noted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is implementing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda to enhance the economy, transparency, and accountability. Idris stressed that the anti-corruption strategy should extend beyond arrests to include preventive reforms.

He identified digitalization, transparency in financial management, improved procurement systems, and reduced discretionary bottlenecks as key measures for accountability. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of public communication in garnering support for economic reforms and described the media as a crucial partner in combating corruption.

He congratulated Dr Musa Aliyu, Chairman of ICPC, for his role in promoting transparency and accountability in public service.
