Minister of Defence defeats PDP at Polling Unit as APC wins Jigawa Reps by-election

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, led the All Progressives Congress (APC) to victory over the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at his polling unit in the Jigawa Reps by-election. The APC secured 188 votes while the PDP garnered 164 votes at Polling Unit 002, where the minister cast his ballot.

Earlier reports had suggested that the APC had lost at Polling Unit 001 due to a mix-up in the results. The election was conducted peacefully, with Education Minister Suwaiba Ahmad expressing confidence in the process.

The APC candidate, Mukhtar Rabiu, was declared the winner of the federal constituency by-election, receiving the majority of votes cast. The seat had become vacant following the passing of Isa Dogonyaro in May 2024.
