Wase Grazing Reserve to Become Livestock Production Hub

Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, the Minister of Livestock Development, reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to fully utilize the 100,000 hectares of arable land available at the Wase Grazing Reserve in Plateau State. During an inspection visit, he announced plans to allocate approximately 30,000 hectares for the establishment of large-scale livestock production facilities, with interest expressed by the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, and Nigerian Navy.

The project aims to modernize livestock operations using artificial insemination technology to improve genetic quality. It is expected to create around 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The minister emphasized the support from various stakeholders, including traditional leaders and political office holders, particularly acknowledging Rt. Hon.

Mohammed's commitment. Plans also include strengthening the dairy value chain and establishing solar-powered milk collection centers.

The initiative seeks to address economic challenges in Plateau State while fostering peace and coexistence in the grazing reserve.
