Nigeria's Minister Doro Advocates for EU Collaboration

On a recent high-level engagement in Brussels, Belgium, Bernard Doro, Nigeria's Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, called for stronger collaboration between Nigeria and the European Union to enhance humanitarian response and support for vulnerable populations. Doro's appeal came during discussions with members of the European Parliament and senior EU officials, including Leir Paj, Hana Jalloul, and Muro.

He urged the government and development partners to maximize available resources and move towards a coordinated, efficient, and results-driven humanitarian response system. Doro highlighted Nigeria's flagship reform initiatives aimed at integrating humanitarian assistance with social protection and poverty reduction.

He acknowledged the ongoing humanitarian challenges in Nigeria, including insecurity, internal displacement, and food insecurity, which affect millions. Doro reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to working closely with the EU to build a sustainable humanitarian system capable of addressing emerging challenges and accelerating poverty reduction across the country.
