Minister Bagudu Urges Local Governments for Inclusive Growth

At an event organized by NASSCO in Abuja, Minister Shiktra Shalangwa Bagudu called on local government chairmen to prioritize inclusive development and improve social protection delivery. He stressed the necessity of collaboration among federal, state, and local governments to achieve national development goals, particularly in light of ongoing economic hardships and insecurity affecting citizens.

Bagudu referenced the Nigerian Constitution's mandate for public officials to safeguard citizen welfare and highlighted the 2017 National Social Protection Policy, which led to the establishment of various programs, including the home-grown school feeding initiative. He noted the approval of the Renew Hope Ward Development Program by the National Economic Council, aimed at addressing economic opportunities and social conditions across the country.

Bagudu urged local governments to take ownership of development efforts and maximize existing economic opportunities within their communities, reaffirming the federal government's commitment to strengthening the social protection system.
