Minister Enoh Praises Flour Mills' Sugar Investments

On a recent visit to the Sunti Golden Sugar Estate in Mokwa Local Government Area, Niger State, John Enoh, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, commended Flour Mills Nigeria (FMN) for its significant investments in sugar production. This tour is part of the federal government's efforts to enhance agricultural industrialization in line with the National Sugar Master Plan (NSMP) aimed at reducing Nigeria's dependence on imported sugar.

Enoh highlighted the estate's role in creating approximately 4,500 jobs during peak periods and stressed the need to expand sugarcane cultivation to achieve national self-sufficiency. He noted the social impact of the estate across 28 host communities, including improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

Boy Olusanya, FMN's Group Chief Executive Officer, reiterated the company's commitment to supporting Nigeria's sugar self-sufficiency drive. The visit also included the inauguration of a training center to enhance technical skills within the host community, showcasing the importance of public-private partnerships in strengthening the local sugar value chain.
