Nigeria and Indonesia Collaborate on Infrastructure Development

Uba Maigari, the Minister of State for Regional Development, emphasized the ministry's focus on addressing the unique challenges faced by Nigeria's diverse regions. This statement was made during a courtesy visit from the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Bambang Suharto, at the ministry's headquarters.

The minister highlighted the existence of specialized commissions within the ministry responsible for formulating policies and supervising bodies to ensure the delivery of mandates assigned by the president. He noted the importance of prioritizing resources based on immediate regional needs, particularly in the North East, where collaboration with security agencies is crucial to tackle emerging challenges.

The ambassador expressed Indonesia's eagerness to invest in Nigeria's agricultural and infrastructure sectors, citing a successful livestock husbandry initiative in Sokoto with a 70% success rate. The Nigeria-Indonesia partnership aims to invest a minimum of $100 million across eight strategic sectors, including renewable energy and healthcare, to drive economic growth and address critical social challenges.
