Ebonyi Federal University Officials Dismiss Crisis Rumors

Officials from Ebonyi Federal University, including Pro-Chancellor David Umahi and Barrister Adebayo Shittu, have publicly addressed and dismissed rumors of a crisis within the institution. Shittu described the claims of an administrative rift as false and misleading, emphasizing that the university remains stable and focused on its academic mandate.

He urged the media to disregard negative reports, labeling them as attempts by unnamed individuals to create unnecessary tension. Vice-Chancellor Professor Jess Unek also refuted claims that the governing council was not functioning, asserting that the council continues to meet and operate independently.

Barrister Saliou Bamidel Aluko characterized allegations of the council being hijacked as untrue, while Paul Okp, representing the Federal Ministry of Education, described the reports as unfounded. The officials encouraged stakeholders to verify information directly from the university rather than relying on unconfirmed reports.
