Ministry Staff Reject FG's Weights and Measures Concession

Staff members of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) in Nigeria have expressed their rejection of the Federal Government's concession plan related to weights and measures. Hamid Argu, the department's vice chairman, emphasized that the department's concession cannot be implemented without legislative action and warned of possible job losses.

Mirian Nduruka, a senior civil servant, stated that while they do not oppose government policies, they demand transparency and communication from leadership. Yusuf Haruna, an official from the ICRC, urged workers to channel their grievances through the ministry's leadership rather than through protests.

He reassured that the documents reviewed do not indicate any job loss, and the Federal Government has considered the concession arrangement due to funding constraints. Haruna insisted that no one would lose their job as a result of the concession, which aims to attract additional resources from investors.
