Minister Advocates Unity and Peace to Combat Insecurity

Information Minister Idris called for peace and unity among Nigerians to address insecurity during a conference in Abuja, organized by the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in partnership with the Muslim World League. He highlighted the importance of Nigeria's diversity as a source of strength rather than division and warned that religious and ethnic tensions could hinder security efforts.

Idris clarified that the Nigerian Government did not organize the conference but welcomed initiatives promoting interfaith dialogue and national cohesion. Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Deputy President of the Senate Barau I.

Jibrin reiterated the government's commitment to sustainable security and international cooperation. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, urged Nigerians to reject divisive tactics based on religion or ethnicity.

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, called for dialogue and cooperation among different faiths, while Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, encouraged viewing diversity as an asset.
