Nigeria's Information Minister Calls for National Unity

On Tuesday, Mohammed Idris, the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, called for unity among Nigerians to combat insecurity and other challenges facing the country. Speaking at the International Conference on “Diversity and Social Peace: A Partnership for a Promising Future” in Abuja, he emphasized the need to rise above religious, ethnic, and political differences.

Idris stated that the diversity of participants at the conference highlighted the necessity for collaboration across divides for Nigeria’s security and prosperity. He warned that allowing religious differences to influence the fight against insecurity would worsen the situation.

The conference, organized by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah in partnership with the Muslim World League, was not a government initiative, but Idris welcomed efforts promoting interfaith dialogue. Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Barau I.

Jibrin reiterated the government's commitment to sustainable security and national unity. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, also called for dialogue and cooperation to address Nigeria's challenges.
