Families Demand New Probe for Missing Ebonyi Engineers

Families of five engineers who went missing on November 3, 2021, in Ebonyi State are demanding a fresh investigation into their disappearance. The engineers, linked to the African Development Bank-backed ring road project, were last seen attending an official meeting.

The wives of the missing men, including Patricia Onyemeh, Lovett Edeani, Ifeoma Ejiofor, Esther Anek, and Nwazulum, accuse former Governor David Umahi of attempting to sweep the truth under the carpet. They express outrage over the handling of the case by security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force, and allege a conspiracy to cover up the real culprits.

The families claim that the police presented skeletal remains without conducting DNA verification and filed charges against six suspects prematurely. They have faced intimidation from undisclosed individuals and have called on President Bola Tinubu and other national leaders to compel security agencies to reopen the investigation, threatening protests if their demands are not met.
