Mob Sets BRT Bus on Fire After Motorcyclist's Death

On Friday, a mob in Ogolonto Bus Stop along Ikorodu Road, Lagos State, set a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus ablaze following a fatal accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The mob also attacked the BRT driver, who was later rescued by police officers and officials from the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps.
Amodu Shakiru, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed that they received a distress call at about 10:21 a.m. and arrived to find the bus engulfed in flames. Shakiru stated that the fire was caused by aggrieved individuals reacting to the accident.
The driver survived the attack and received medical attention. A video showed the bus on fire while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
Reports indicated that the deceased motorcyclist might have been a prominent member of a local confraternity, but this claim could not be independently verified. The incident coincided with another road crash in the area involving a mini truck.
