Teacher Burned Alive by Mob in Kaduna Over Kidnapping Claims

In a tragic incident in Kaduna, a teacher identified as Ummulkhair, who was a mother of four, was brutally killed by a mob. The mob accused her of attempting to kidnap children while she was teaching.

The incident occurred after police had rescued her from the mob and placed her in custody at a nearby police station. Following this, hundreds of angry residents stormed the police facility, overpowering the officers and forcibly removing Ummulkhair, whom they subsequently set ablaze.

The Kaduna State Police Command described the killing as a direct assault on the rule of law and confirmed that several suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. A manhunt is ongoing for others involved.

Amnesty International condemned the killing and called for an investigation into the alleged police complicity in the incident, highlighting growing concerns over mob violence in Nigeria driven by suspicion and unverified claims.
