Mob Lynches Woman Accused of Child Theft in Kaduna

On Saturday, October 10, a woman accused of child theft was attacked by a mob in Maraban Jo, Kaduna State. The Kaduna State Police Command received a distress call regarding the incident and dispatched officers to the scene to rescue the woman.

However, the situation escalated as hundreds of residents stormed the police station, overpowering the officers on duty. The mob forcibly removed the woman from police custody and set her body ablaze.

DSP Mansir Hassan, representing the police command, condemned the act as barbaric and a grave violation of the rule of law. He stated that a comprehensive investigation had commenced, with several suspects already arrested and a manhunt ongoing for others involved.

The police command warned against mob justice and urged residents to report suspicious activities to the authorities instead of taking the law into their own hands. Rabiu Muhammad, a police commissioner, reaffirmed the commitment to protect lives and property and ensure justice is served.
