Moniepoint and Google Host Workshop to Empower Women in Tech

Moniepoint, in partnership with Google and Techmakers, hosted a workshop in Lagos focused on addressing Nigeria's IT skills gap, particularly for women. Kemi Nwogu, Head of Product at Moniepoint, urged attendees to transcend traditional career paths and take ownership of shaping the future of the tech industry.

The event featured participation from women across various technical and non-technical backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of women's current activities in Nigeria's digital economy. Nwogu highlighted the subtle discouragement young girls face in pursuing science and technology fields and stressed the importance of building skills through online courses, coding bootcamps, and open-source projects.

The workshop included hands-on sessions led by Taiwo Famakin, guiding participants in modern product development and software creation using AI tools. The initiative aims to empower women to navigate their careers on their own terms and ensure they are active contributors to the tech ecosystem.
