Obasanjo Declares Nigeria's Refineries Will Never Work

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo declared that Nigeria's state-owned refineries will never work effectively, despite ongoing reform efforts. He emphasized that previous rehabilitation attempts by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) have failed to address underlying issues, including poor maintenance and corruption, which deter credible private operators.

Obasanjo's remarks come amid growing concerns about the state of Nigeria's oil infrastructure and the declining involvement of international oil companies. In a separate incident, a 37-year-old Nigerian man, Ademola Ok, was found dead at his workplace in the United Kingdom, marking the third report of a Nigerian's sudden death in the UK within April.

His family has launched a public appeal for financial support to cover funeral expenses and assist his two young children. The situation has raised unease within the Nigerian diaspora, reflecting broader concerns about the safety of Nigerians abroad.
