Police to Deploy Four Officers per Polling Unit in Osun

As the Osun State governorship election approaches on August 15, the Nigeria Police Force has announced a significant security operation. Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu stated that a minimum of four police officers will be deployed to each of the 3,673 polling units across the state's 30 local governments and 332 wards.

This deployment is described as one of the largest the state has seen, surpassing the security measures taken during the last election in Anambra State, which was noted for being peaceful. Disu made these remarks during a meeting with civil society organizations in Abuja.

Additionally, there have been rising calls for the removal of Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, following the freezing of the Osun State Government’s account, which opposition parties claim is politically motivated. The EFCC's action has led to demands for Olukoyede's resignation or removal by various political groups and citizens.
