15,000 Police Officers Deployed for Osun Election Security

The Nigeria Police Force has deployed no fewer than 15,000 officers to Osun State in preparation for the governorship election scheduled for August 15. This deployment, announced by Commissioner of Police Samuel Erale Etaifo during an engagement in Osogbo, aims to address rising tensions and violence in the state.

Etaifo stated that the Inspector General of Police ordered his early redeployment to Osun due to heightened tensions following recent attacks and killings. The deployment includes conventional policemen, Police Mobile Force personnel, specialists, dog section, and medical teams.

Etaifo warned that anyone compromising the election's credibility, including police officers and political actors, would face legal consequences. He also directed that all individuals arrested for electoral offenses would be transferred directly to Abuja for prosecution.

Etaifo urged the deployed officers to maintain professionalism and non-partisanship, ensuring that every voter can cast their ballot without fear of intimidation or violence.
