Itauma Faces Hrgović for Vacant IBF Heavyweight Title

British-Nigerian heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma is set to face Filip Hrgović for the vacant IBF heavyweight title at London’s O2 Arena at 10:30 PM on August 29. Itauma, who is 21 years old, enters the match unbeaten in 14 professional bouts, with 12 of those wins coming by knockout.

His last fight saw him knock out former world title challenger Dillian Whyte in the first round. A victory over Hrgović would make Itauma the second-youngest heavyweight world champion in history, following Mike Tyson.

The build-up to the fight has been tense, with Hrgović calling Itauma a “kid” and questioning his experience. Hrgović, 34, has a record of 20 wins, one defeat, and 15 knockouts, and believes his experience will give him an edge.

The fight gained significance after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the IBF title, allowing Itauma to contend for it earlier than expected. Itauma maintains that his motivation remains focused on defeating Hrgović, regardless of the title.
