Mazen Mroue Steps Down from MTN Nigeria Board Effective 2026

Mazen Mroue has officially exited his position as a non-executive director of MTN Nigeria, with his departure taking effect on February 27, 2026. The decision was made to allow Mroue to concentrate on his responsibilities within the MTN Group.

He joined the board of MTN Nigeria on June 1, 2022, after being appointed as the Group Chief Technology Officer in February 2022. Mroue has an extensive background in telecommunications and information technology, having begun his professional career in 1996 and joining MTN Group in 1998.

He has accumulated 28 years of senior management experience across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. His tenure included serving as Chief Operating Officer of MTN Nigeria from August 2018 until January 31, 2022.

Recently, MTN Nigeria reported a strong turnaround in its telecom operations, posting a profit before tax of ₦1.70 trillion for the year ending December 2025, a significant recovery from a pre-tax loss of ₦550.3 billion recorded in 2024.
