MTN Nigeria Achieves 62% Local Procurement in 2025

MTN Nigeria Plc announced that it has achieved a 62% local procurement rate and employs a workforce that is 99.9% Nigerian, significantly reducing expatriate staff from over 300 in 2021 to just four. The Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Modupe Kadri, presented these figures during the Nigerian-South Africa Chamber of Commerce August 2026 Breakfast Forum.

In 2025, MTN Nigeria spent N2.7 trillion on local suppliers and over N1 trillion on digital infrastructure. The company is also seeking Nigerian investors to acquire up to a 30% stake in IHS Nigeria to facilitate the acquisition of IHS Holding Limited.

Kadri emphasized that local procurement is essential for building Nigerian enterprises capable of competing globally. He noted that many technology needs are now met by local suppliers, contrasting with the company's reliance on foreign suppliers at its inception.

Companies like SO&U and the Computer Warehouse Group have emerged as international competitors through partnerships with MTN Nigeria.
