MURIC Urges FG to Criminalize Boat Boarding Without Life Jackets

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the Nigerian government to criminalize boarding boats without life jackets to reduce the increasing number of boat accidents in the country. MURIC emphasized the importance of modern and safe ferry services and the establishment of a coast guard in all 774 local government areas.

Professor Isiaq Akintola, the Executive Director of MURIC, highlighted the high rate of boat accidents and the need for stricter regulations to ensure safety in water transport. MURIC also suggested that private and commercial boat operators using old and unsafe vessels should be penalized to prevent accidents.
