Adeyanju Advocates Court Support for El-Rufai's Release

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju reacted to the temporary release of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, which was granted for the purpose of attending his mother's burial. Adeyanju suggested that the decision to grant El-Rufai temporary release should be properly backed by law, highlighting the need for judicial oversight.

He described the decision as a reflection of the judiciary's independence and a response to corrupt practices related to offenses committed under the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Adeyanju noted that while El-Rufai's remand was ordered by the court, the temporary release should support the judiciary's directive and demonstrate a balance in law enforcement while respecting human dignity.

He commended the authorities for showing empathy and adhering to due process, indicating that such measures should not undermine accountability but rather reflect compassion within the legal framework.
