Jonathan Defends Leadership Against Atiku's Criticism

Former President Goodluck Jonathan responded to criticisms from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who questioned Jonathan's leadership experience during an interview on Arise TV. Jonathan, speaking at an award ceremony in Abuja, defended his time in office, acknowledging that mistakes are part of leadership but asserting that no leader can govern without facing challenges. He posed a rhetorical question about whether one must be 100 years old to be president, highlighting the absurdity of age as a measure of capability.

Jonathan, who became president at age 53 in 2010 and left office at 58 in 2015, emphasized that all leaders, regardless of experience, encounter missteps. His remarks come as Atiku assesses potential rivals for the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, including notable figures like Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi, while expressing dissatisfaction with the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.
