Mustapha Confirms Candidacy for Kwara APC Governorship

Saliu Mustapha, a current representative of Kwara Central in the National Assembly, has confirmed his intention to participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election scheduled for May 21, 2026. This announcement comes in response to widespread rumors suggesting he had either withdrawn from the race or lost interest due to a purported list of senatorial aspirants circulating online that included his name alongside Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Mustapha clarified that he has obtained the APC nomination form for the governorship election ahead of the 2027 general polls and successfully underwent the party's screening exercise in Abuja earlier this month. His camp has labeled the reports linking him to the senatorial primary as fake and misleading.

Furthermore, Mustapha's team expressed support for a peaceful APC primary while emphasizing their commitment to the governorship race, countering any attempts to sow confusion within the party.
