Tuggar Declares Governorship Bid for Bauchi State 2027

Yusuf Tuggar, the immediate past Minister of Foreign Affairs, formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State on a Saturday. He resigned from his ministerial position in March 2026, following President Bola Tinubu's directive that political appointees seeking elective office must step down.

During his visit to the APC secretariat in Bauchi, Tuggar emphasized that his ambition would not divide the party but rather strengthen it. He expressed a commitment to addressing the state's development challenges, including poverty, unemployment, and insecurity.

Tuggar outlined plans to improve economic performance through reforms in agriculture, small and medium enterprises, and solid mineral development. He pledged to ensure timely salary payments, enhance market infrastructure, and strengthen collaboration with community security agencies.

Additionally, Tuggar promised to expand access to quality education, improve teacher welfare, and promote vocational training for youth, while also ensuring affordable primary healthcare services and stronger social protection for vulnerable groups.
