Tuggar Announces 2027 Governorship Bid for Bauchi State

Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has declared his ambition to contest for the governorship of Bauchi State in the upcoming 2027 general elections. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as a minister, which he believes has equipped him with a better understanding of governance.

Tuggar stated that his candidacy is not for personal gain but to improve the state, which he described as being at a crossroads despite its abundant resources. He highlighted the struggles of the people, including lack of access to quality education and healthcare.

Tuggar's previous experience in a governorship contest, which he lost, has taught him resilience and the realities of electoral stress. He plans to focus on agricultural development, rural growth, and economic plans that include investments in farming, livestock, and rural infrastructure.

Additionally, he pledged to address rising insecurity through community dialogue and stronger ties with traditional leaders.
