Wike Promises to Enhance Abuja's Global Capital Status

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), made a commitment to improve Abuja's image as a major capital city comparable to other global capitals. This promise was articulated during a speech at the European Union complex in Abuja, coinciding with the official opening of the new Irish embassy on Wednesday, March 17, 2023.

Wike assured diplomats present, including Jack Chambers, the Minister of Public Expenditure, and Peter Ryan, the Ambassador of Ireland to Nigeria, that the government would continue to work towards creating a conducive environment for job creation, particularly focusing on safety. The event highlighted the importance of international relations and the development of land allocation for embassies, reinforcing Nigeria's commitment to fostering diplomatic ties.
