Wike: My Role is to Pressure Opposition Leaders

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, expressed his intention to keep opposition leaders under pressure during a press interaction on Friday while inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja. He emphasized that his job is to ensure that opposition figures do not feel comfortable, particularly in light of the current political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike noted that the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hindered the identification of a strong opposition party. He stated, “I don’t want them to feel well,” asserting that his goal is to make opposition leaders experience high blood pressure.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a member of the PDP, also dismissed concerns regarding the sentiments of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, indicating their reactions were of no concern to him.
