Wike Vows to Pressure Atiku, Obi Ahead of 2027 Elections

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, expressed his intent to create pressure on opposition figures, specifically former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, in the lead-up to the 2027 general election. During a press interaction in Abuja on Friday, Wike was questioned about the reactions of opposition leaders to his political engagements, particularly his meeting with Osun State Governor-elect Ademola Adeleke.

He stated that he was unconcerned about the comfort of Atiku, Obi, or other opposition figures, asserting that his goal was to ensure they felt discomfort and pressure. Wike claimed there is no significant opposition currently, attributing this to the internal crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he argued has weakened its status as the leading opposition party against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also clarified that Adeleke, despite contesting under a different platform, remains a member of the PDP due to the party's internal issues.
