Wike Vows to Pressure Atiku, Obi in 2027 Election

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, stated his intention to keep pressure on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who are leading opposition figures against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike is openly supporting Tinubu's re-election and expressed his goal to make his political opponents uncomfortable.

He emphasized that the ongoing internal crisis within the PDP has hindered its ability to act as a formidable opposition force. Wike remarked that the party, which should be the principal opposition, lacks the cohesion necessary to challenge effectively.

He criticized Atiku's proposal to restore petrol subsidy, labeling him as "confused." Wike's rivalry with Obi has been ongoing, with previous derogatory remarks about Obi's presidential ambitions. His comments indicate that he intends to play a significant role in the 2027 political landscape beyond his ministerial duties.
