Femi Fani-Kayode Appointed Nigeria's Ambassador to South Africa

Femi Fani-Kayode has been appointed as Nigeria's Ambassador-designate to South Africa, as announced in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja. He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve Nigeria's foreign policy and highlighted his long-standing interest in South Africa and African countries.

Fani-Kayode noted that he prefers to serve African nations closer to Nigeria, citing the importance of pan-African cooperation in international affairs. His redeployment request was facilitated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and was approved by the President.

Fani-Kayode acknowledged the role of Tuggar in the redeployment process. He had previously been assigned to Germany but expressed discomfort with the location, preferring to serve in South Africa.

The announcement comes after a formal representation was made to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Fani-Kayode looks forward to contributing to Nigeria's foreign policy in South Africa, a nation he described as historically significant.
