Sokoto Senator Ibrahim Lamido Resigns from APC Over Insecurity

Ibrahim Lamido, the Senator for Sokoto East, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on a Friday, citing the worsening insecurity in his constituency as the primary reason for his departure. He expressed that the continuous violence and bandit attacks have made it impossible for him to remain in a party that no longer reflects the promises made to the people.

Lamido painted a grim picture of daily life in his district, where entire villages have been overrun by armed groups, forcing residents to flee their homes and abandon their livelihoods. He emphasized that the humanitarian crisis has reached a breaking point, with people enduring untold hardships.

Despite his efforts to raise concerns at the federal level, he noted that little has been done to address the situation. Lamido's decision comes after serious consultations with community leaders and political associates, indicating a shift towards a new political direction, possibly aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
