Iyabo Obasanjo Critiques APC Consensus After Setback

Iyabo Obasanjo, a former gubernatorial aspirant for Ogun State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed her disappointment regarding the party's consensus process after stepping down from the race. Following a meeting on April 13, 2026, where Solomon Olamilekan Adeola was declared the consensus candidate, Obasanjo reported that her supporters were physically assaulted, requiring medical attention.

In her statement, she congratulated Adeola but lamented the lack of recognition for her efforts, particularly through her Iyaniwura Foundation, which played a significant role in mobilizing support. Despite her grievances, Obasanjo reaffirmed her unwavering loyalty to the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, stating she would not leave the party.

She urged APC leadership to embrace a more inclusive process to foster unity and mutual respect among aspirants.
