Lagos Airport Car-Hire Service Charges N30,000 Fare

The newly introduced airport car-hire service at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos has drawn significant backlash after travel content creator Chris Joondeph, known as “Authentic Travelling,” revealed that a trip to the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja could cost as much as N30,000. Previously, Joondeph paid between N6,000 and N8,000 for the same journey using Uber.

Upon inquiry, an airport car-hire operator quoted him N30,000, which he deemed excessive. Instead, he opted for an alternative ride-hailing service, inDrive, which charged him N6,100.

A subsequent check revealed that the airport car-hire platform, ACHRAMS, lists fares from the airport to the city center between N10,000 and N20,000, while inter-state trips range from N30,000 to N60,000. Comparatively, Bolt listed the fare at N6,900, and Uber at N4,200 for UberX and N5,800 for its Priority option.

The N30,000 fare is approximately 335% higher than Bolt’s and 614% higher than UberX’s for the same trip, prompting social media users to label the pricing as exploitation and a rip-off.
