N300m Eviction Case Moves Towards Out-of-Court Settlement

The N300 million eviction case has seen parties moving towards an out-of-court settlement after three years of legal proceedings. On Wednesday, the involved parties urged the court to allow ongoing negotiations to conclude, with counsel for the first defendant, Ahm Raji, informing the court that discussions are at an advanced stage.

The second defendant's counsel, Aderenke Imana, raised concerns about the sincerity of the defense, noting that multiple motions had been filed despite the ongoing settlement talks. Victor Giwa, representing the defense, confirmed several meetings had taken place, and a previous bench warrant issued against a police inspector for failing to appear in court was vacated by trial judge Samira Batur.

The matter has been adjourned until June 25, with hopes that the parties will reach a resolution during the ongoing negotiations.
